The purpose of this group is to share
experiences, documents (e.g. requirements, RFP’s), and possibly even code among
CUCCIO members who operate or are thinking of operating a portal for students,
staff, faculty, and/or alumni.
Objectives
- To share information, experiences, knowledge
and activities with others with responsibility for portals at Canadian
universities.
- To provide a forum to enable members to seek
advice from others.
- To identify and disclose best practices for
portal implementations at Canadian universities.
- To seek opportunities for collaboration in
portal initiatives in areas of commonality across universities.
- Examples of portals and portal functionality
which are relevant to this group include:
- Portal
products from different vendors
- Open
source portals
- Portal
components (themes, portlets)
- Integration
strategies
- Methodologies
for building and evaluating portals
- Strategies
for mobile portals
Activities
- CANHEIT
2010: approval of terms of reference
- Spring
2011: gathering names of interested parties, setting up collaboration space
- Prior
to CANHEIT 2011: first conference call
- CANHEIT 2011: possible live gathering

Who Should Join?
Managers, Directors, and CIO’s from CUCCIO
member universities with an interest in portals
Commitment & Meetings
Communication will be primarily through an email list and a
collaborative workspace, to be decided. Conference calls will be held as
necessary.
Face
to face meetings can be set as required preferably around other relevant
conferences such as Educause, CANHEIT and other conferences.
